Welkom at (囲碁 igo, 围棋 weiqi, 바둑 baduk) go club De Twee Ogen in Amstelveen. The name of our go club is Dutch for “The Two Eyes“. A very appropriate name for a Go Club we think, because go players: two eyes, lives!
In our opinion, having a good time is the most important aspect of playing Go. Therefore, every now and then, we organise lively happenings to have a change from the ordinary 19×19 competition. Sometimes this is a 13×13 tournament, sometimes a rapid Go tournament, four-color Go, but most often a changing pair Go tournament where not only the pair you play against but also the partner you play with changes every round. Indeed, these events have a lively athmosphere: there is life with two eyes!
We play in the European Go Cultural Centre that has been very supportive over the years. Of course, what does it mean to be a Go centre without a Go club?! Our club was founded in May 1992 just after the centre was opened. We have about thirty members. Our players vary from 20 kyu to 6 dan.
Every Tuesday and Friday at 20:00 hours the club meets in the EGCC. So if you ever are in Amsterdam or Amstelveen on a Tuesday or Friday, please drop by and we will have someone of your strength to play with.
Location and public transport
The EGCC is located a few kilometers south of Amsterdam. It can be reached by metro or bus from the Central Station in 40 minutes. See http://9292.nl/en to plan your trip from Amsterdam to the EGCC at Schokland 14, Amstelveen.
